Wedge wire screen cylinders are manufactured to meet a wide range of application requirements, with virtually unlimited options for height and diameter. The wire can be oriented circumferentially or as long-slot profiles, rolled to either the inside diameter (I.D.) or outside diameter (O.D.) of the cylinder, depending on the specific performance needs.

These cylinders can be designed for stationary (static) processing or mounted on trunnions to allow rotation, providing enhanced material handling and separation performance.

Constructed from durable stainless steel, wedge wire cylinders are commonly used in industries such as food processing, wastewater filtration, pulp and paper production, and mineral processing.

In addition to full cylinders, wedge wire or profile screen half cylinders can be integrated with augers or screw presses to efficiently separate solids from liquids. This configuration is widely used in food processing, wastewater treatment, mineral applications, and in removing industrial grit or metal chips from coolant systems.

CTI-X7 Static Screen

The CTI-X7® Static Screen reinvents screen feed point technology, countering the radius sieve bend and drop-box standard that's been in place for the last 50 years. 

The X-7 Static Screen is a magnetite screen that directs fines minus 1.5mm to the Mag Separators. The final spray washing completes the magnetite recovery. Many plants have reported less than .5 pounds per ton of Raw Coal.

ESS-1450HD2 Decanter Centrifuge

A decanter centrifuge, also known as a horizontal bowl centrifuge, solid bowl centrifuge or scroll centrifuge, is a machine used to separate a solid material from a liquid(s) using a high-speed and continual rotational process. Due to centrifugal force, the heavier particles are pushed through the liquid and collected on the inner wall of the bowl; the high-speed rotation of the bowl separates the solids and liquid materials.

Elgin’s ESS-1450HD2™ decanter centrifuge is fitted with a NEMA premium, continuous duty, poly-chain driven, 50 hp main drive.  The 50 hp main drive can operate the centrifuge up to a maximum rotational speed of 3,250 rpm, thus, generating more than 2,100 G’s of force.  By using an adjustable motor mount, motor and belt maintenance is made easy by the adjustment of two jack screws.  No additional motor mounts, brackets, or tensioning devices are required. 

By utilizing a carbon fiber poly-chain, no belt retensioning is required after installation is complete.  The carbon fiber tensile cords are length-stable and can withstand shock loads that frequently lead to belt failure. More importantly, Elgin’s carbon fiber poly-chain will not require quarterly replacement, saving thousands in annual maintenance expenses.  Elgin’s ESS-1450HD2™ decanter centrifuge can be fitted with either a 52:1 or a 125:1 planetary gear box.  

The stainless steel rotating assembly is 14” (356 mm) in diameter and 49.5” (1,257 mm) in length.  By using a length over diameter ratio of 3.5, Elgin achieves an extremely stable centrifuge, even at maximum rotational speed. The rotating assembly is given further stability by the use of two SKF™ premium bearings.  Both bearings are installed in precision-machined pillow blocks. Equipped with externally accessible grease ports, daily greasing can be performed without the removal of machine guards. The internal flights are lined with tungsten carbide tiles along the entire length of both the clarification and the tapered section, extending the ESS-1450HD2™ decanter centrifuge’s ability to manage erosive solids.

A decanter centrifuge (also known as solid bowl centrifuge) separates continuously solid materials from liquids in various types of slurry material.  Used to separate a mixture that consists of two substances with different densities by using the centrifugal force resulting from continuous rotation. It is normally used to separate solid-liquid, and liquid-liquid mixtures.

The ESS-1967HD2™ decanter centrifuge rotating assembly is machined from stainless steel in a “split-bowl” configuration.  By using a split-bowl, the solids end, which experiences the greatest level of wear, can be replaced without requiring replacement of the entire rotating assembly.  To protect the upper cover from the radial discharge of solids, a 180 degree radial, protective deflector plate has been installed. This deflector plate is easily replaced and eliminates the potential of the top cover being eroded by solids discharge. 

To ensure maximum operator flexibility, Elgin has developed a proprietary touch-screen VFD control system. Each stainless steel, NEMA 4X panel is built from the ground up using the most sophisticated electrical components and Yaskawa™ A1000 variable frequency drives. Elgin’s VFD systems include a variety of enhanced features including, internal lighting, ventilation and heating, Ethernet porting for diagnostics and programming updates, and a custom designed user interface that allows for maximum operating flexibility and control. Elgin’s proprietary user interface provides complete control of all systems, as well as, a sophisticated set of diagnostic tools, information libraries and read-only fault logs. Advantages
Unlike punch plate or woven wire, profile wire screens offer 2-point particle contact. The continual slots and inward widening openings allow for less plugging of near size particles.

Construction
To ensure the strongest weld possible, Elgin utilizes continuously controlled TIG welding to connect the profile wires to the support bars.
